A Word From Marc: We all celebrated Mother's Day a few weeks ago. I read somewhere that Americans spend 10 times more on Mother's Day than they do on Father's Day. That seems fair. I have never been a mom but I've known a few and for sure they work a lot harder than I ever did as a father. Hey, I didn't suck. I'm just saying it ain't easy being a mother. My own mother was a woman named Beverly. Bev was an interesting person to say the least. If I told her I fell and got hurt she would simply reply "How's your big toe?" In other words her motto was suck it up and carry on. She often shuffled her kids out the front door locking it behind us and said "See you at dinner!" She was sassy and sarcastic but raised very independent children who learned to cope and manage themselves through life. She died early in life. The same age I am now. Two packs of Lucky strikes every day since she was 16 might have something to do with her early demise but on a positive note not a single one of her kids ever smoked. So I guess that's a win. Bev was a good mom. You were fed, you had clean clothes and we had manners. She did her job every day and frankly that ain't easy. Moms show up day after day whether they're big toe hurts or not. Their children might not show any appreciation for years to come but in the long run we are grateful. I listed an amazing property recently. It's a townhome on Wilkinson Lake. It has beautiful sunset views across the water. It's in impeccable condition and one of the coolest features is a five car garage with one side being big enough for an entire motorhome.
