A Word From Marc: I've visited my childhood stomping grounds on Long Island last week. Ate a slice or two of N.Y pizza, waited in traffic multiple times on the Long Island Expressway and talked to a bountiful of New Yorkers going about living their lives. Long Island was a great place to grow up as a kid especially in the 60s and 70s. Lots of woods to play in. It was easy enough to ride your bike to the beach or pier where you could collect a bucket full of clams or a net full of crabs. There was sand everywhere. You walked on it. You played with it. You got your 72 Dodge Dart stuck in it. We were outside all the time as kids. My mother would literally push us out the front door, lock it. behind her, and say "I'll call you for dinner". I imagine it was similar growing up in North Oaks. I love to talk to folks who grew up here who talk of similar childhoods. Taking a bag lunch out on the island and riding their bikes all day long. I talked to a guy who said he once literally drive his car around the Pleasant Lake path. I hear there were horses and even a ski hill with a rope tow. Of course, you can still get lost on the miles of trails and roads of North Oaks but back then there was a level of un-connectedness that allowed an almost unlimited amount of freedom. I think if we step outside into our yards, we can still find that sense of adventure without having to look too far. North Oaks still offers us the opportunity to find that childhood we seek. It is still a place where many people want to live and continue to find homes for themselves and their family. Eight homes have sold in our community in the last 30 days. The prices range anywhere from 600,000 all the way to 3 million. The demand is still high and inventory is still relatively low for existing homes. We are lucky. It is still a great place to be. There's plenty of sand down at the beach but I haven't had any luck catching any Blue Claw Crabs lately. - Marc LAKESHORE AVAILABLE: $1.75M MARC OWENS - KURTZ 612-751-6472 | MARC@LAKESMN.COM TOP PRODUCER & REGULAR GUY!
